1-9-8-1 We Have Been Challenged to Continue Our Leadership in Participation in Annual Giving!

We need your help for '81 to continue to set the standard of participation in alumnae giving!  We have assembled a challenge fund to help achieve 55% and mark five consecutive years of above 50% participation.

We need 100 new donors by June 30th to top 55% participation. Go here for more info.

Last year, in honor of our 35th Reunion, we came together and set new records supporting Wellesley (see our thank you page for a list of donors):

  • New class annual giving participation record in celebration of our 35th Reunion: 66.2% (307 donors)
  • New class record in 5-year giving total for gifts and commitments: $3,109,515
  • ’81 continues to be a leader in participation.
  • As the leading class of the ‘80’s, we were invited (all of us – whether you donated or not) to a conference call with President Paula Johnson.
  • Our 66.2% was the highest 35th Reunion participation rate since the class of 1971 reached 64%.
  • We met the challenge to reach 62% participation by June 4th at Reunion to give an additional $35,000 to the College.

In tribute to our results last June, Vice President of Resources and Public Affairs (alumna of '84) Cameron Mason wrote our class to say:

"On behalf of Wellesley College, I write with heartfelt thanks for your dedication and support alongside your fellow alumnae from the Class of 1981. Year after year, your class has set the standard for class giving, and your continued commitment is an inspiration to other alumnae. As you know, in fiscal year 2016 your class achieved an astounding participation of 66.2%, which was higher than all other classes of the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, 2000s, and 2010s!
Through your generous support, Wellesley is able to prepare young women to make meaningful contributions to the world—and to be major influencers in it.
... Your class’s tradition of participation and leadership sets the standard for all of us—though as a fellow ’80s alumna, it’s also a great source of competitive spirit! Thank you again for your support."
How did we accomplish so much?  Because, we've never forgotten the generations of students who came before and those will come after us.  The generosity of prior generations of Wellesley alumnae made it possible for so many of us to afford to go to Wellesley.  We know that giving as a class truly makes a difference and it really feels better when we do it together. AND, we know that a gift of any size truly counts.

Please give today and, together, we will reach our 55% participation goal. The fiscal year closes June 30th.  All new donors gifts (of any size!) will be increased by $150.  If you haven't given yet this fiscal year:

Go online,  mail a check, call (800) 358-3543 or
give $10 by Texting the word "Fund", your name and 1981 to 50555

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
