First Annual Holiday Mini Reunion Newport, Rhode Island Sunday, December 15th
Experience Newport during the Gilded Age & decorated for the holidays. We will begin our day with brunch at La Forge Casino Restaurant located in the historic Newport Casino. In 19th Century terminology a casino was known as a social and recreational facility, not a place to gamble. After brunch, we will go on a special Servent Life Tour at the Elms, summer residence of the Berwinds of Philadelphia who made their fortune in coal. How Downton Abbeyesque is this?! We will conclude our day by visiting the grave of Dr. Harriet Rice, Wellesley Class of 1887 & first African American to graduate from Wellesley. Our own Mary Baker Wiley will lead us on this amazing journey of the Newport Gilded Age.
